This explains, in plain English, what happens to the information you share with me through this website.
Who I am
Learn with Ems is run by Emily Costello, a self-employed tutor based in Tilehurst, Reading. I’m responsible for the personal information you share with me.
What I collect
When you send an enquiry, I receive what you choose to tell me:
- your name, email address and (if you give it) phone number
- your child’s school year, what you’d like help with, and your preferred days
- whether you’d like online or in-person lessons, and your general area
- anything else you write in your message
I don’t ask for your child’s name, school, or any medical or diagnostic information through this website. Please don’t include that kind of detail in your message. We can talk about anything important when we chat.
If you contact me on WhatsApp or by phone instead, I’ll see the information you send that way, along with your phone number.
Why I use it
I only use your information to reply to your enquiry and, if you decide to go ahead, to arrange tutoring. The legal basis is that you’ve asked me to get in touch about a service you’re interested in. I don’t send marketing emails, and I never sell or share your details with anyone for marketing.
Where it’s kept
When you use the enquiry form, your message is sent securely to my email inbox. The website is hosted by Cloudflare, which also delivers form messages to me. Cloudflare handles the data only to provide that service.
How long I keep it
If we don’t go ahead with tutoring, I’ll delete your enquiry within 12 months. If we do work together, I’ll keep the details I need for as long as I’m tutoring your child and for a reasonable time afterwards.
Cookies and analytics
This website doesn’t use advertising or tracking cookies. I may use privacy-friendly, cookie-free statistics (such as how many people visit) to understand whether the website is useful. This doesn’t identify you.
Your rights
You can ask to see the information I hold about you, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete it at any time. Just get in touch: message me on WhatsApp or call 07516 644962.
If you’re unhappy with how I’ve handled your information, please tell me first so I can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
Children
This website is for parents and guardians. Children shouldn’t send their own enquiries or personal information through this website.
